Project in a state not listed?

State by state

Notes on how permitting works in the jurisdictions where we file most often. Code editions change; we confirm the edition in force with the local authority before design starts.

District of Columbia

The District of Columbia Construction Codes are based on the ICC codes with District amendments, including the DC Energy Conservation Code and green construction requirements for larger projects, reviewed by the Department of Buildings.

Florida

The Florida Building Code applies statewide, including its mechanical, plumbing, fuel gas and energy volumes, with the High-Velocity Hurricane Zone provisions in Miami-Dade and Broward affecting rooftop equipment anchorage and product approvals.

Maryland

Maryland adopts the IBC and IECC statewide through the Maryland Building Performance Standards, with amendments by Baltimore City and the counties. We design to the edition the local jurisdiction has adopted.

New Jersey

Our headquarters. New Jersey permits run through the Uniform Construction Code and its subcodes, with plan review by each municipality's construction office. The plumbing subcode is based on the National Standard Plumbing Code, which differs from the IPC used in most states.

Projects in New Jersey

New York

Office in Manhattan. New York City enforces its own Construction Codes, Energy Conservation Code and Department of Buildings filing process, while the rest of the state uses the New York State Uniform Code and Energy Code. We file in both.

Projects in New York

North Carolina

North Carolina enforces the North Carolina State Building Codes, including the Mechanical, Plumbing, Fuel Gas, Energy Conservation and Electrical Codes, through local inspection departments such as Charlotte-Mecklenburg.

Pennsylvania

Pennsylvania adopts the ICC codes statewide through its Uniform Construction Code, with municipal or third-party agency plan review and Philadelphia's own amendments. Our largest listed project, the Siemens Energy facility, is in Mount Pleasant.

Projects in Pennsylvania

South Carolina

South Carolina adopts the IBC, IMC, IPC, IFGC, IECC and the NEC statewide through the Building Codes Council, with local enforcement.

Texas

Texas adopts the energy code statewide, while building, mechanical, plumbing and electrical codes are adopted and amended city by city. We track the editions and amendments in Dallas, Houston, Austin and the surrounding municipalities.

Virginia

The Virginia Uniform Statewide Building Code adopts the ICC codes with Virginia amendments and is enforced by local building departments across the Commonwealth.
